When Your Mind Says Yes, But Your Body Says No
Have you ever been in a place where your mind is fully committed to the vision, but your body seems to be pulling in the opposite direction? I’m in that space right now. My mind is telling me to push forward, to keep building, creating, and showing up for my dreams, but my body is signaling that it’s time to pause, reset, and nurture.
This is one of the hardest battles in business and life—the internal struggle of wanting to move ahead, even when your physical self is urging you to slow down. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about pushing through; it’s also about knowing when to listen to your body before things go too far.
So, what are the signs it’s time to slow down?
Constant fatigue: If no amount of rest seems to make a difference, it’s a red flag.
Mental fog or lack of focus: When you can’t think clearly, it’s often your body’s way of saying it needs a break.
Irritability or mood swings: If you’re short-tempered and easily frustrated, it may be exhaustion talking.
Physical aches and pains: Headaches, muscle soreness, or lingering illness are all ways the body demands your attention.
Loss of motivation or creativity: If things that once excited you now feel like a burden, it’s a clear signal to hit pause.
The key is not to wait too long to honor these signals. Ignoring them can lead to burnout—or worse, full body shutdown. Trust me, I’ve been there. The body will eventually force you to rest, whether you like it or not. The outcome of pushing through can be disastrous, setting you back further than if you had just paused to take care of yourself.
