Editor’s Note: March Reflections from Mechel
Greetings, Live Out Loud family!
Last Friday, March 21st, my living room transformed into something sacred—a space where music met ministry and dance turned into divine connection.
It was my turn to host our beloved Holy Koinonia group, and I’ll admit—I was a little nervous. Hosting isn’t new to me. I plan events, teach classes, and speak to crowds. But welcoming people into my home? That’s a different kind of vulnerable. I moved furniture, fluffed pillows, and checked every corner twice—I just wanted everything to be just right for them.
And when the moment arrived, we did what any joyful group of Spirit-filled sisters would do... We danced. 💃🏽
Yes—Boots on the Ground was the line dance of the night, and baby, we brought the energy! I had so much fun teaching, and they had just as much fun learning. There were laughs, little missteps, and big breakthroughs. Some of the women had never line danced before—but they stepped in, stepped out, and by the end, you couldn’t tell them nothing! What started as a fun night of movement turned into a lesson: You really can do anything if you believe and give yourself permission to try.
But the biggest surprise came after the dancing. As we settled down and caught our breath, an unexpected shift happened—a sacred hush. What followed was a deep, Spirit-led discussion about the Almighty—our faith, personal spiritual walks, creating consistent habits, and anchoring ourselves in scripture. We didn’t plan it. We didn’t script it. But we were open—and because of that, we grew.
Our team lead, and fellow Live Out Loud Sister, J. Williams, gently guided us into that conversation, and I’m still in awe of how beautifully it unfolded.
The lesson I walked away with?
Sometimes the most powerful moments happen when you're not trying to make them happen. When you show up with love, let go of perfection, and create space—God does the rest.
So this is your reminder, Sis: Don’t underestimate the power of showing up—whether it’s to dance, to gather, or to talk about the things that truly matter. Something beautiful always rises when you allow joy and Spirit to co-exist in the same room.
